This list is just to give you some ideas. You do not need to pick from the list if you have a different topic about the war you’d like to work on. If you would like further guidance on the area you would like to explore, don’t hesitate to contact us by email.
You can access information on topics such as the role of women and heroines on scoilnet.ie. Go onto the scoilnet.ie site and go into the primary section, then click into Browse Resources and from there you will need to select 5th & 6th Class, SESE History, Eras of Conflict and Change then refine further to explore the changing roles of women in 19th & 20th Century. You could also refine further to explore Story where you will find information about Anne Frank.
If you are very interested in the story of Anne Frank there is a wonderful site called annefrank.org which allows you to do a free virtual tour of her secret annex.
DCU Library has very good online resources on dcu.lbguides.com including a link to Down County Museum which documents The Millisle Farm Story. Anyone who is currently reading Faraway Home by Marilyn Taylor will recognise Millisle Farm as the wartime home for Jewish children who had fled from Europe on the Kindertransport.
The BBC also have a wealth of resources for primary school children about the Second World War.
Pick a topic which interests you and decide how you want to present it. Remember it could be in a scrapbook, as a visual A2 /A3 display or PowerPoint. You decide.
