Hi Third Class,
I am thinking of you all and hope you and your families are all doing well. Well done on any work that you have completed at home so far. If possible, please continue with your Mental Maths, Read at Home, spellings and tables for now. Take a break from these over Easter.
Below are some ideas for working from home. Remember that these are just suggestions and I don’t expect you to do everything on the list. You and your parents/guardians can pick and choose activities to suit your day and your household.
If you are using the internet, please practice online safety and remember that you must have an adult present when clicking on link to a website.
If you are somebody who finds the visual timetable at school helpful, you might like to make one for yourself. Make sure to stop for movement breaks between subjects. Don’t forget about your Rainbow Moments and breathing exercises!
English
• Read at Home – Read your daily story and answer the questions based on the story.
• Spellings – Learn your spellings and write an interesting sentence for each word.
• Create your own newspaper. Report on topics of your choice, for example, local news, sport, movie reviews, book reviews, interviews, music recommendations etc.
• Read as often as you can. You will find some online books on Tumble Books: https://www.sdcc.ie/en/services/sport-and-recreation/libraries/explore-collections/ Your parent/guardian can register for free access or you can use the school log in: D4000000561881

Maths
• Mental Maths – complete each day, including the Friday Review.
• Tables x11, x12
• 3D shapes – look for these shapes in your environment, draw a picture for each and label it.
-cube, cuboid, cylinder, sphere, cone, triangular prism. Write down how many faces, edges and vertices(corners) each shape has.
SESE
• Continue working on your Egypt project.
• Look around outside for signs of spring. Write down or draw all the signs that you see. Watch out for robins at this time of year, as the earth gets softer and there are plenty of worms to eat. Keep a tally of the different birds you see. Try to become familiar with the songs of the different birds. Have a close look at buds on trees, bushes and flowers and watch how they change day by day.
• If you have an outdoor space at home, ask if there are any gardening jobs you can do.
• Start a project on an animal or living creature of your choice. Some ideas for information to include: habitat, prey, predators, behaviours, how to care for the animal.
Art
• Use cardboard toilet roll insert and some paper to make an Easter bunny. Create a “habitat” for the bunny, using recycled materials, for example, an unused shoe box or cereal box.
Music
• Practice singing “Fanfaidh mé”, the song can be found on the Coláiste Lurgan Youtube channel.
• Dabbledoo Music are giving parents free membership for a month. There are lots of songs and games for Third Class on the website https://dabbledoomusic.com/p/parents
PE
• Practice your dance for “An Dreoilín” and “Shoe the Donkey”, the songs can be found on YouTube.
• Go Noodle: sign up for free or find the videos on YouTube.
• Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube.
Religion
• Watch this video about The Last Supper: https://vimeo.com/171911185
SPHE
• Write a short sentence about your Rainbow Moment and illustrate it.
• Continue with your breathing exercises.

Well done on all the work you have completed so far, keep up the great work. Most importantly, don’t forget to…. have fun, play games, tell jokes, get fresh air and be kind to yourself and those around you!
Warm regards,
Ms. O’Sullivan
